China warns kids against classroom graft | Bangkok Post: news

Students hold and present 5 yuan banknotes as they pose to camera with their teacher at a classroom ahead of China's annual national college entrance exam or "gaokao" in Hengshui, Hebei Province, China, June 3, 2016. The school offers each student participating in the national college entrance exam two 5 yuan banknotes bearing serial numbers as souvenirs, which means good luck. A commentary in the Communist Party newspaper said it was common to see students bribe teachers and other students to gain advantage in class. The paper urged people to teach children correct conduct before they grow accustomed to a corrupt culture. Mr Xi’s signature anti-corruption campaign, which has targeted lowly “flies” as well as powerful “tigers”, has been a core piece of his effort consolidate power in the ruling Communist Party.
